Privacy Policy and Procedure PDF Print E-mail

Privacy is about more than promises and platitudes.  The most critical factor is the procedure that governs the interactions between a business and its customers.

E-Tunnels has constructed its websites, configured its servers and structured its business with a view toward keeping its clients' privacy as a top priority.

Here's how we do things:

Collection of Information:

If you never possessed it, no one can take it from you.  We do our best to collect the minimum information from you.

No real name required.

No address or phone number is required.

No documents--passports, driver's license or national ID card--are required.

We ask you to create a username and passport so we can identify you uniquely sin order to service your account.

We do require a working email address, but that can be as anonymous as you like.

Obviously, we have access to the IP address reported by your computer when it arrives on our site.  As we demonstrate on the front page, it's pretty hard to fool us outside of using of VPN.  But we don't store your IP or your proxy's IP.  We aren't interested in it unless you're behaving maliciously on our site.

Our VPN servers also know your IP address when you log on, but they identify you by the key and certificate you're given when you first purchase an account, and we assign those randomly since you do not need to remember them.

The servers do not store your IP address.  They keep a record only of the VPN client name that identifies your key and certificate.  By this means, we do have a way of keeping tabs on the volume of clients' traffic but not its content.

Our servers know nothing about your browsing activity and no record is kept of it

We do not take payment from you directly.  Our payment gateways do provide us with limited information, but in the case of payments using e-currencies, that is likely to be nothing more than an account number.

Storage of information:

We keep the username that you created on file.  Your account password is kept on our server in encrypted form.  We also keep on record the email address you gave us at registration.

We keep a list of the VPN client names we give to clients and record its tie to the username you created.

We flush our VPN logs weekly after making sure that no one is abusing the usage limits.

Release of information:

We believe strongly in the presumption of innocence.

We believe that governments have limited power that does not extend beyond their territorial boundaries.  We will not respond to subpoenas or law enforcement requests for information related to servers located beyond the issuing authority's or requesting official's jurisdiction.
